World’s population is getting increase day by day. So, agriculture demands an efficient and secure future in both quality and quantity wise. The future of agriculture now is in the hands of speed breeding, organic farming, mechanized farming, and cooperative farming.
What is organic farming?
Organic farming is the technique in which there is no use of pesticides, fertilizers, GMOs, crisps CAS, and all other synthetic materials. Even though the animals use under organic farming all are fed on organically produce products.
Organic farming
World’s population is getting skyrocketed but why there is a need for organic farming? Conventional farming (which requires chemicals pesticides machine systems and a monoculture crop-depend on the system) requires lots of cost on chemicals, pesticides, and machines and many farmers are not aware of the used machinery so it is also a limiting factor. To sort out all these problems agriculture is presenting a very efficient method of organic farming that uses green manure, crop rotation, and bone meals. Organic farming is eco-friendly.
Ecosystem deteriorations
The nitrogen cycle is a process that creates a habitat in which nitrogen is fixed by bacteria. But don’t that fertilizers do the same thing? Then why do we have to do such a hectic job for BNF? The problem with fertilizers is that nitrogen is not embedded in organisms and when soil is prone to rain, the nitrogen will drain out with soil into rivers that dominate the algae there causing water deterioration and the remaining loose nitrogen molecules when volatiles cause ecosystem disruption by making gas Nitrous oxide in the atmosphere.
This will irritate the earthworms causing them to leave or die. PH of soil will also become change. All in all, meaning it kills the soil. When plants finish the minerals present in the soil, they have to put more minerals and fertilizers in it. Moreover, water is also getting worse and the ecosystem is also becoming change. Vegetable quality is also getting worse day by day as copper reduces by about -76%. But by using organic farming and using natural procedures these crises can be handled easily. One survey says that pulses add about 50-80% of the nitrogen in the soil.
Organic farming and its impact on humans
Organic farming is the procedure that provides us with healthy food with all the nutrients required for the health of humans. Analysis shows that from 1900 trend moves toward organic farming. But the need for organic farming started in 1960. The first organic food is sold in the 20th century. Because now people now prefer quality over quantity. Cancer is the main prevention caused by using organic farming. Breast cancer has a strong association with crops made up of using pesticides. Organic farming is good for reproducing animals take the example of rabbits, which analysis revealed that their production goes twice, and for chickens 28% more if they were fed organic food rather than conventionally produced products. Salicylic acid which is an antibiotic ingredient of aspirin is 6 times higher in organically produced foods. Organic food is better in taste, costly affordable, more nutritious and produces more jobs, and is more reliable than food produced by using techniques of conventional farming.
GMOs
GMOs which is a conventional method according to investigations held in the USA say GMOs are fit for use as a food and also is used for making new plants.GMOs in which we edit the genetics of something let’s suppose you want to produce resistance in wheat against drought you will take a gene from outside and enter into them by using a vector. This vector is mostly bacteria so bacteria will get an indirect path to enter humans and if this change case entry into human genetics it will going to cause an unchangeable effect Moreover after 4 years may cause cancer and it will become deleterious for human health. It is also an expensive treatment and a large number of skilled laborers are required to conduct this experiment which is not possible at the same time.
European Union countries have banned GMOs product to be used. Because it is unethical and against the law of nature because a single cell makes whole organisms e.g dolly sheep. Another factor is that you cannot transfer genes more than once e.g basmati rice in which aroma is controlled by 14 genes you can only transfer 1 gene, not all 14 genes So if organic farming is promoted these issues cannot make their path for effecting.
Global warming reduction
Global warming is the main reason why our environment is getting hot day by day. Humans made product for their use but neglect the fact that every man-made product have some negative impacts and one has to be careful when using these products. Research which is conducted by The Rodale Institute Farming System examined thoroughly that organic farming not only reduces the level of carbon dioxide but also slows down the climate-changing procedure. Hence, we can say that organic farming is a flagbearer of sustainable farming. With this age of increasing population day by day feeding has to be increased to make it available at the right time and right place.
Diversity
Using conventional farming monoculture technique is used by which you grow a single crop season after season our climate is changing day by day as it is mentioned earlier so we need more resistant varieties but if the crop is monoculture genetic base gets narrow and only one trait is going to be focused. Organic farming promotes crop rotations which means more benefits, more healthy soil, and more diversity.
Hydrogenated fats
Organic food uses cause heart disease because have no cholesterol and for our hectic life hydrogenated food is the most reliable. Organic foods have no hydrogenated fats.
Negative impacts of organic farming
Although it reduces the nonreducible energy by using agrochemicals it also reduces the quantity. Conventional farming produces more quantity but organic produce less which will create competition. If there are fewer products only rich people will be able to afford these products. This will go create competition for lives. It is a slow process but this can be compensated by the technique of speed breeding. Not all the carbon dioxide is fully reduced moreover there is some use of chemical pesticides Organic farming is somewhat expensive because farmers do more work. Because of their small-scale production marketing and distribution is not that efficient which is required to compete with the conventionally produced products. What is the most alarming about organic food is that it spoils quickly.
Conclusion
Where there are benefits there are harms also, by using organic farming there are some pros that we can neglect but we also cannot neglect the fact that it has more benefits than conventional farming.
