Bollywood superstar Salman Khan was among the top 10 targets that jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi planned to eliminate when he confessed to the National Investigation Agency.
Lawrence Bishnoi claimed that in 1998, Salman Khan hunted the black buck, which is considered sacred by the Bishnoi community, and that the gangster wanted to kill the actor to avenge the community’s hurt feelings.
Bishnoi admitted to the NIA in December last year that his aide Sampat Nehra had conducted a reconnaissance of Salman Khan’s Mumbai residence on his orders. Nehra, on the other hand, was apprehended by the Haryana Police Special Task Force.
As Salman Khan is among the top 10 targets on Lawrence Bishnoi’s hit list, he received another death threat call on April 11 this year, according to Mumbai Police, just weeks after a man was arrested for sending a threat email to the ‘Dabangg’ actor.
The Mumbai police have provided Salman Khan with Y+ category security because the actor is perceived to be under threat. After receiving a threat letter from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, the Maharashtra State government took this action.
Bishnoi, who is currently incarcerated in the national capital’s Tihar Jail, also admitted to obtaining two ‘zigana’ semi-automatic pistols from America in 2021 through Goldie Brar for the infamous Gogi gang.
In April of this year, members of the gang allegedly attacked and killed Tillu Tajpuriya inside his Tihar jail cell. Brar, who lives in Canada and claimed responsibility for the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala in Punjab’s Mansa district last year, also claimed responsibility for Tajpuriya’s death.
Following Bishoni’s confession to the NIA in December last year, investigators believe that the guns he gave to the Gogoi gang may have been used in the sensational killing of gangster-politician Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf. On April 15 night, Atiq Ahmed and his brother were shot dead as they were being driven to a hospital in Prayagraj.
In addition, Mumbai Police have charged gangsters Lawrence Bishnoi, Goldie Brar, and Rohit Garg with sending threatening emails to actor Salman Khan’s office. Bandra Police filed a case under IPC sections 506 (2), 120 (b), and 34.
Meanwhile, in his confession, Bishnoi stated that, in addition to Salman Khan, he was targeting Shagunpreet, the manager of late Punjabi singer Sidhu MooseWala.
Bishnoi stated that Shagunpreet was on his hit list because he managed the late singer’s accounts and had also sheltered Vicky Middukhera, a student leader in Punjab politics who supported Lawrence Bishnoi and was later murdered.
Goldy Brar, who lives in Canada, has previously claimed that singer Sidhu Moosewala was murdered to avenge the death of Vikramjit Singh.
Bishnoi also admitted to the NIA that one Vikas Singh, a strongman from Uttar Pradesh’s Ayodhya, had given his gang’s operatives and henchmen shelter at the latter’s hideout.
On April 18, Delhi’s Patiala House Court granted Bishnoi seven days’ custody to the NIA in a terror funding to pro-Khalistani outfits case, according to his lawyer Vishal Chopra.
Lawrence Bishnoi, the accused in the murder of Siddhu Moosewala, was apprehended by Punjab police last year.
