Indian remake of super hit ‘Pasoori‘ invites hate comments. The full music video for “Pasoori Nu,” the Indian version of Ali Sethi and Shae Gill’s international hit song, debuted on YouTube and other music streaming services a day after the teaser for the song was made available.
The lead actors Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani perform the Arijit Singh and Tulsi Kumar song while mouthing the rewritten Hindi lyrics, showcasing their on-screen chemistry.
Aaryan and Advani don matching outfits in the music video as they give sneak peeks at their upcoming movie. The Punjabi and Urdu-sung original song has been given a Bollywood makeover for “Satyaprem Ki Katha.” The remake includes a new bridge, minor chorus changes, and previously unheard instrumentation. Gurpreet Saini and Sethi wrote the lyrics and Rochak Kohli composed the music.
However, detractors contend that the remake fails to replicate the original’s simplicity and magic. With Arijit Singh’s vocals taking centre stage, the song has undergone numerous changes that result in an odd and disjointed mashup of different Bollywood songs. Desire has taken the place of the complexity and agony that Sethi and Gill so masterfully portrayed in the original. “Pasoori Nu” honors its predecessor, but it can’t compare to the impact of the first “Pasoori.”
Following the release of the song, the makers of “Satyaprem Ki Katha” promoted it with the message, “Presenting the song Pasoori Nu from the movie Satyaprem Ki Katha. Relive the global hit! Kartik Aaryan as Satyaprem and Kiara Advani as Katha…”
The news of the Coke Studio remake sparked outrage on Pakistani social media platforms. Fans expressed their objection to Bollywood transforming the heartfelt lyrics of “Pasoori” into a romantic ballad.
Lollywood actresses Rabya Kulsoom and Amar Khan also called out Bollywood’s hypocrisy, pointing out the industry’s practice of “banning” Pakistani actors while shamelessly rehashing our musical hits.
