The Lahore Board is the mainstay of education in the country. It is regarded as Pakistan’s most comprehensive educational board. Every year, this board examines around 2 million students in matriculation and intermediate exams.
Since Pakistan’s independence in 1947, matriculation and intermediate-level examinations have been held under the auspices of the University of the Punjab.
The Punjab University Act (Amendment) Ordinance 1954, however, formed the Board of Secondary Education, Punjab in the province, taking management of secondary, intermediate, and Pakistani and classical language examinations from the stated university.
