ISLAMABAD – Malik Amin Aslam, a former adviser to then-prime minister Imran Khan quits Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

In a press conference at the National Press Club, Malik Amin Aslam said he quits PTI as it has been overtaken by an “agenda” which got exposed during May 9 protests.

“May 9 incidents left me shocked [as] party workers took the law in their hands,” said Aslam. Wherever the rallies were held the target were military installations, he pointed.

Amin further clarified that he made the decision without coming under pressure.

According to the former Prime Minister’s adviser, it would have been smart to launch an internal investigation within the party to identify and expose any persons involved in misconduct.

Amin, who left the PTI, expressed tremendous regret that he could no longer accept the agenda that had seized control of the party.

As a result, he decided to depart from the party.

He stated that he was not swayed by “external pressure” in his decision to leave.

Furthermore, the former minister warned that more details will be revealed when the time was right, emphasizing that the party had “veered off course.”

Many people were surprised by the revelation, given Aslam’s long relationship with the PTI and his considerable contributions to the party’s programmes.

Aslam, who ran for the PTI ticket in Attock, has been an important role in the party’s environmental activities.
