Alamgir Tareen, the owner of Multan Sultans and the brother of eminent politician Jahangir Khan Tareen, committed suicide in the Punjabi capital.
According to reports, the managing director of the PSL franchise shot himself in the head at his home in the Gulberg neighborhood of Lahore as police arrived on the scene.
When he learned about the incident, Jahangir Tareen was reportedly presiding over a meeting of the recently founded political party Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party. He immediately departed for Alamgir’s home.
Later, the police officials said that Alamgir had left a hand-written suicide note citing a “disease he had been suffering from” as the reason for self-harm.
As Alamgir Tareen ‘commits suicide’, according to the family, Alamgir was single but was going to marry his fiancé this December.
Jahangir Khan Tareen is a Pakistani businessman and politician who is the majority shareholder and CEO of JDW Group, a conglomerate specializing in sugar manufacturing, biomass cogeneration, paper manufacturing, sugarcane farming, and aviation services.

He made a name for himself as a leading businessman in South Punjab and ran one of the country’s largest water purification plants.
He earned his bachelor’s degree at the University of California, Berkeley, and his master’s degree at the prestigious Yale University.
Alamgir was “a sports enthusiast who wanted to work towards establishing a solid platform for aspiring sportsmen and women and providing them with the best possible resources to further develop their skills,” according to the Sultans’ official website.
He was also the driving force behind the cricket franchise’s data-driven approach.
