On Friday morning, renowned Pakistani mountaineer Samina Baig became the country’s first woman to climb K2, the world’s second-highest and most dangerous peak.
Samina Baig reached the summit of Savage K2(8,611 metres) at 7:42 a.m., after her team and she decided to call it a day due to the extreme weather conditions on Thursday.
The 31-year-old is also the first Pakistani woman to climb Mount Everest, the world’s highest peak, as part of a ten-person team.
Samina Baig has received numerous compliments on social media for her bravery.
Baig, who was born in Gilgit-Baltistan, became the first Pakistani woman to scale Mount Everest, the world’s highest mountain, in 2013 at the age of 22.

Samina Khayal Baig is a Pakistani high-altitude mountaineer who in 2013 climbed Mount Everest, all Seven Summits in 2014, and K2 in 2022.
She is the first Pakistani woman to climb Everest, K2, and the Seven Summits.
She climbed Mt. Everest at the age of 21.
Samina was the first to climb the peak Chashkin Sar (above 6,000 meters) in Pakistan in 2010, which was later renamed Samina Peak after her. She reached the summit of ‘Koh-i-Brobar’ (‘Mount Equality’) in 2011.

An attempt at the seven-kilometer high Spantik Peak ended in failure for Baig, due to adverse weather conditions.
Samina was able to climb K2 in July 2022 at the age of 31 years 10 months and 5 days.
She’s the first Pakistani woman to achieve this feat.
