Amrish Puri’s 18th death anniversary being observed today

Amrish Puri was born on 22 June 1932 in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar district of Indian Punjab. His father’s name was Nihal Singh Puri and his mother’s name was Ved Kaur. Amrish has three brothers and one sister out of which two brothers Chamanpuri and Madanpuri are famous actors. Amrish Puri’s wife’s name is Urmila Deokar with whom he has a son Rajeev Puri and a daughter Namrata Puri.

Grand villain Amrish Puri started his film career in 1971 with the film ‘Reshma Aur Sheera’. He initially wanted to act as a hero in films but the producers decided to cast him as a villain and Amrish Puri also honed his skills as a film villain for many years.

Amrish Puri rose to fame with his role as Mugambo in the 1987 film Mr. India. Apart from this, he has blockbuster films like “Vidhata”, “Phool Aur Kante”, “Dil Jale”, “Koila”, “Nayak” and “Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge” to your credit. The 2004 film ‘Bushal’ was his last big film.

Amrish Puri’s 18th death anniversary being observed today. Puri also acted in several Hollywood films. Among them is the famous Hollywood director Steven Spielberg’s film ‘Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom’ in 1984, due to which he gained international fame. Amrish Puri also performed brilliantly in Richard Attenborough’s film ‘Gandhi’.

Legend Amrish Puri left us on 12th January 2005 due to a ruptured cerebral artery.
