LHC issues notice to Punjab IGP for disobeying court order

The Lahore High Court has issued a notice to Punjab IG Police Rao Sardar Ali Khan for non-compliance with a court order.

On Monday, Justice Shahid Waheed of the LHC was hearing a contempt of court petition filed by Muhammad Umar Rafiq against IGP Rao Sardar for failing to obey the court order.

According to the petitioner, a case was registered against some people regarding a property issue on false charges with the knowledge of the SP city and SHO Shafiqabad police station.

He stated that he had filed a request for an investigation into the above-mentioned police officers. He also made applications to the IGP and other police officers, but no one responded, so he filed a petition with the Lahore High Court.

The petitioner also stated that on May 27, 2022, the court sent his application to the IGP, instructing him to act in accordance with the law. However, because the IGP has failed to act on his request, he is disobeying the court order, according to the petitioner, who is pleading with the court to hold the IG police in contempt of court.
