QUETTA: Balochistan Finance Minister Sardar Abdul Rehman Khetran will present the province’s budget for 2022-23 in the Balochistan Assembly today (Tuesday) after the session was postponed twice due to unresolved details.
The Balochistan government, led by the Balochistan Awami Party (BAP), is set to present its “balanced” and “pro-people” budget for the coming fiscal year, totaling more than Rs620 billion.
According to provincial finance ministry sources, no new taxes will be imposed in the budget.
The government is expected to announce more than Rs250 billion in development budget under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP), and non-developmental funds are expected to exceed Rs350 billion in FY23.
According to finance department sources, the new budget will create over 5,000 jobs, with a large portion of the budget going to health, education, agriculture, food, rural development, communication, law and order, irrigation, clean drinking water, and other sectors.
Aside from that, more funds will be allocated for clean drinking water projects, while education, health, and law and order are also among the government’s priorities.
