The government of Punjab, led by Chief Minister Parvez Elahi, has pledged to fund a free public education system all the way to high school graduation.
This was announced by the PTI-backed chief minister during a flag-raising ceremony at Lahore Fort on the eve of Independence Day.
Elahi reflected on his former role as chief minister, during which he had declared free education through the twelfth grade.
He also paid a heartfelt homage to the military services and police officers who had died protecting their country.
The head of state also heaped praise on the army’s top officer, General Qamar Javed Bajwa, for his efforts to rid the nation of terrorists.
