Sindh University halts academic activities till next week

The University of Sindh Jamshoro has decided to suspend all on-campus academic activities till the next week due to the prevailing weather in the region.

In accordance with the Registrar’s official notice, all on-campus academic activities have been suspended effective immediately. The start of the next academic year is scheduled on Tuesday, August 28, 2018.

The announcement further noted that before classes at the University of Sindh Jamshoro started on Wednesday, August 31, office personnel and faculty deans would be present on Monday and Tuesday.

Following the monsoon rains’ torrential downpours and ensuing severe flooding, the Sindh government declared 23 districts to be calamity-hit.

In a related recent incident, the district government of Larkana has made the decision to keep all of the district’s educational institutions closed due to the anticipated intense monsoon rainfall.

According to the official notification made by Deputy Commissioner Larkana, all public and private schools and institutions in the district will be closed from August 22 (Monday) through August 27 (Saturday). All educational institutions in the district will resume on Monday, August 29.
