Chinese officials have sent their sincerest condolences and sympathies to the families of those who perished in the recent flash floods in Balochistan and Sindh, and have pledged to provide immediate humanitarian help in the form of tents and other necessities.
A spokesman for the Chinese government said on Wednesday that 25,000 tents and other relief materials are being sent out immediately, while 4,000 tents, 50,000 blankets, 50,000 tarpaulins, and other reserves provided by China under the framework of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor’s (CPEC) social and people’s livelihood cooperation have been put into the frontline for relief. The Pakistan Red Crescent Society has received $300,000 in emergency monetary support from the Red Cross Society of China.
‘China has taken note of the tragic loss of life and property in Pakistan caused by recent floods. The Chinese Foreign Ministry released a statement expressing its “deep sympathy to the victims” and “sincere condolences” to the relatives of the deceased, as well as the wounded and others affected by the accident.
The statement sent by the Chinese embassy in Islamabad served as a timely reminder that China and Pakistan are longstanding allies who have traditionally rallied with one another in times of crisis. State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi has sent his sympathies to his Pakistani counterpart, Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto, after the country’s recent floods, according to a spokeswoman.
