Increase in death toll amidst floods havoc across country
Floods continued to devastate and cause massive destruction over the country reported today, particularly in the provinces of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan with the death toll which has been increasing day by day. Until now, around 119 people have lost their lives and have been declared dead along with more than 70 people injured in the last 24 hours.
Floods till now have claimed the lives of 1,030 people, with around 74 deaths reported in provinces wise such as Sindh, 31 in the area of K-P, six in Gilgit-Baltistan, four in Balochistan, and one in Punjab and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
The data released by National Disaster Management Authority shows that around 32 children, alongside 56 men and around nine women are among those who have died in the flood after the rains, while the victims of the flood are around 5 million.
Over the past 24 hours, nearly 0.95 million houses and 0.72 million livestock were flooded while 0.27 million houses were destroyed and 3,116 kilometers of highways and 149 bridges were washed away.
Meanwhile, two ships carrying relief goods from Turkey are expected to reach in Karachi tomorrow. The Turkish Consul General in Karachi will be responsible for handing over the relief goods to all the Pakistani authorities at the airport on Monday.
