Israel pressurises US to prevent Iran Nuclear Deal.
Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapids said on Sunday that Israel will continue to pressure the US government to prevent the signing of a nuclear deal between Iran and world powers.
“We are waging an intense campaign to prevent the signing of a dangerous nuclear deal between Iran and world powers.”
His remarks come as Tehran and Washington enter a final push to save the 2015 nuclear deal, with the two now exchanging views on the draft EU proposal.
The Israeli prime minister said the US is considering the deal with Iran despite reservations from Tel Aviv.
“We also talked to other partners and asked for what the Iranians are demanding. We can’t say everything, but not everything should be the subject of battles and speeches. There are other ways and they work better.”
David Barnea, the director of Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency, will visit the US on Sunday to discuss the Iranian nuclear documents with officials, according to the Lapids.
Israel accuses Iran of trying to develop a nuclear bomb, but Tehran has said that the plan is for peaceful purposes.
Former US President Donald Trump unilaterally withdrew from the 2018 nuclear deal with Iran and resumed sanctions on Iran.
Iran retaliated by breaking its nuclear promises in the nuclear deal.
Since then, Tehran has exceeded its uranium enrichment limits and the amount it can hold under the deal.
