TikTok hackers leak huge data of users
In TikTok’s servers, security researchers have found a large data breach. More than 2 billion user accounts may be at risk as a result of this, according to reports.
After a hacker group shared photos allegedly containing the app’s source code and user data, TikTok has denied rumours that it had been compromised. TikTok has simply stated in response to many inquiries that its team “discovered no evidence of a security issue.”
According to Bleeping Computer, these hackers claimed to have obtained the images from a TikTok server that had been accessed when they uploaded the pictures on a forum.
The hacking collective goes by the name “AgainstTheWest,” and they assert to have over 790 GB worth of user information, platform statistics, code, and other materials. Additionally, they allege that data from the Chinese messaging platform WeChat was stolen, but the firm has not yet responded to inquiries.
According to Maureen Shanahan, a spokesman for TikTok: “We have verified that the disputed data samples are all openly accessible and are not the result of a breach of TikTok’s systems, networks, or databases. Users do not, in our opinion, need to take any preventative measures, and we continue to be dedicated to the safety and security of our international community.”

Troy Hunt, a regional director at Microsoft and the designer of the Have I Been Pwned tool, also provided his opinions on the subject. He claimed that there is now “very inconclusive” evidence of a hack. He claims that some of the data is false or might be test data only.
Hunt was unable to determine whether the hacker’s database included stolen data, though. In either case, if you have a TikTok account, we advise changing your password and turning on two-factor authentication. Since multiple cybersecurity researchers have posted their warnings online, it is better to be safe than sorry.
