President Chamber of Agriculture warns about food shortage in KP

President of Chamber of Agriculture Haji Abdul Rasheed Dhap has said there may be a shortage of food in D I Khan as well as in the entire Khyber Pakhtunkhwa if the damaged part of the Chashma Right Bank Canal (CRBC) is not repaired soon.
He said this in a press conference at Dera Press Club (Registered) organized by the Chamber of Agriculture.
President of Chamber of Agriculture Haji Abdul Rasheed Dhap said we express solidarity with all the scores of the recent unprecedented flash floods and torrential rains.
He said these floods have caused serious damage to the Chashma Right Bank Canal, if the affected areas are not repaired immediately, it will have a very h (CRBC) which has a harmful effect on the cultivation of wheat and gram and may cause a food shortage not only in Dera Ismail Khan but in the entire Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
“The government should provide immediate support to the victims, and immediately repair the damaged parts and cracks in the CRBC canal, especially in the south direction from Juma Head in the limits of Tehsil Prova, Mr. Rashid Dhap demanded.
Mr. Haji Rasheed Dhap said, about more than 2.9 million lakh Kanals of agricultural land are irrigated from the CRBC canal, and commodities worth about Rs. 1.1 Trillion are obtained while the government gets about Rs. 1.5 Billion of annual irrigation revenue.
He added that these products are not only for Dera Ismail Khan but they fulfill the agricultural needs of the entire province and the country.
“The rice and sugarcane crops have been badly affected due to the recent floods,” he said.
Haji Abdul Rasheed Dhap said It is a matter of great regret that neither WAPDA nor the Irrigation Department has taken the responsibility of constructing the drains due to which the embankments were weakened by removing soil from abandoned drains.
General Secretary Chamber of Agriculture Malik Iqbal Kharar, Vice-President Chamber of Agriculture Haji Shahid Bhanrri, Senior Vice-President Chamber of Agriculture Haji Khizr Hayat Diyal, Members of Chamber of Agriculture and other social leaders including Sheikh Muhammad Moazzam Kamran, Qamar Zaman Dhapp, Haroon Awan Advocate, Haji Sher Muhammad Ustrana, Haji Mehar Shah and Malik Liaquat Mukkal along with landlords were present in the press conference.
