Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has left for a two-day trip to Uzbekistan in order to attend the annual summit of the Council of Heads of State (CHS) of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), which will be held on September 15–16.

Prior to leaving, the prime minister tweeted that Pakistan had reaffirmed its commitment to the “Shanghai Spirit.” He continued, “Mutual respect and trust can serve as the cornerstone of shared prosperity”.

The SCO has great potential to pave the way forward at a time when deeply troubling changes are occurring in the geopolitical and geoeconomic fields, according to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

“The SCO member countries must cooperate more due to the current economic turmoil in the world.” In another tweet, he stated that “The SCO vision represents the aspirations of 40% of the world population.”

The premier will meet separately with Tajik President Imomali Rehmon and President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on the first day of his two-day visit.
