Javed Latif’s anti-Ahmadi remarks fuel the fire in PTI supporters.

Federal Minister Javed Latif has used religious card for political gains against former prime mister Imran Khan by using state institutions like PTV for raising such derogatory remarks about him.

According to Federal Minister Javed Latif’s remarks, “When Imran founded Naya Pakistan, units of Qadianis became active in Karachi. Didn’t Imran give interviews to foreign media saying that the religious freedom of Qadianis would be preserved?”

Political rhetoric on Wednesday took another turn after Pakistani Tehreek-e-Insaf mocked the government for drawing battle lines on religion against Imran Khan through a “systematic campaign.”

PTI members condemned this statement of Minister Javed Latif.

Likewise, the coalition government – mainly PML-N – has also been targeted on Twitter for attempting to turn Imran Khan into a “bogeyman” for the masses by spewing “toxic” propaganda against him.

They were also shocked by the airing of such incendiary speeches on national television.

PML-N is conducting an organized and planned campaign to make Imran Khan controversial [for the people],” former minister of religious affairs Noorul Haq Qadri said at a press conference in Islamabad, along with fellow PTI leaders Asad Qaiser and Iftikhar Durrani.

The backlash came hours after PML-N leader Javed Latif at a press conference accused the PTI leader of ‘attacking the fundamental tenets of Islam’ by ‘supporting’ the community Ahmediyya during his tenure.

He also called on the Council on Islamic Ideology (CII) to suspend Imran Khan.

Qadri condemned Latif’s remarks, pointing out that his adherence to Imran Khan was not only because of his political ideology but also because of his religious ideology.

He said that “the war waged by the government is very dangerous because it would lead to divisions and violence.”

“These are the people who want to sow hatred and chaos in the country,” he added.

Durrani then questioned PEMRA’s role in the overall development, saying he had lobbied TV stations to boycott Imran’s flood-hit telethon but had been unsuccessful to spread religious hatred censorship by Javed Latif.

PTI supporters are raising their voices on social media and asking the government to take measures against such derogatory remarks.
