Gomal University: VC’s stance on assets of institute
It was decided in 119th Syndicate meeting decided that the assets of Gomal University are absolute property of University and cannot be distributed with any other institution therefore by obeying the law I will not distribute the property of the University, Vice-Chancellor Gomal University Prof. Dr. Iftikhar Ahmed said in a letter to Acting Governor and Chancellor of the University Mushtaq Ghani.
Vice-Chancellor Gomal University Prof. Dr. Iftikhar Ahmed in a letter No. 1758/GU/VC dated 15/09/2022 replying to the letter of a Reference letter by Acting Governor and Chancellor of the Gomal University Mushtaq which was in reply to the VC letter no. 1756/VC/GU dated 12/09/2022 said “The Syndicate of the University after its completion in its 111, 113 and finally 119 meetings in their decisions repeatedly decided to observe and implement the decision of the High Court regarding the distribution of assets between the newly formed Agriculture University, the Syndicate in its 119 meeting though agreed that the Gomal University shall transfer an area of 1000 kanal of land on lease to the University of Agriculture D.LKhan and then be identified and demarcated.”
“But in respect of the distribution of the assets, the Syndicate in its 119 meeting decided that the assets are absolute property of Gomal University and cannot be distributed with any other institution” he writes in the letter.
VC GU Prof. Dr. Iftikhar said the “the decision of the 52nd Provincial Cabinet meeting held on date 16/03/2021 and the decisions of the Asset Distribution Committee constituted under the said decision and also the decisions of the incomplete Syndicate Meetings during the period 22/04/2021 to 22/09/2021 were all set aside by the Peshawar High Court’s reported judgement dated 22/09/21 in WP. 1987-P/2021 under the University Model Act which declares the assets of Gomal University indivisible, suspended the operation of decision of 16 Special Meeting of University Senate held on 15/08/22 and fixed the next date for hearing of this case”.

He said to Chancellor and Governor KP “Please guide me, are your good self asking me to disobey the decision of Honorable High Court dated 22.09.2021, which I can’t dare to do as I am so far teaching the obedience of the law, I cannot break the law. ”
He added that the Senate’s decision dated 15.08.2022 has been suspended by the Honorable High Court and since that matter is pending before the High Court therefore, please permit me to bring the above development to the notice of the Peshawar High Court so as the High Court may make any decision which may appear appropriate to High Court.
He also apprised the Governor KP about the threats hurtling down by Ex-Federal Minister and PTI leader Sardar Ali Amin Khan Gandapur stating that” by inciting the students against me and my family, he posed a threat to me, my family and young children live here in the government accommodation inside the university, for whom the inflammatory slogans cause fear and panic.”
He said, Ali Amin Gandapur allegedly in a WhatsApp message from his WhatsApp threatened him of dire consequences and insult if I don’t tender my resignation. He also alleged that outsiders are encouraged to force entry into university compounds and create rowdyism.
He demanded from Governor KP Mushtaq Ghani that the protection of life and property, honor and reputation is the basic constitutional right of every citizen and I am entitled to the protection of this situation, therefore strict action should be taken against external elements who are committing violent acts.
