Massive protests at Chandigarh University after leaked videos
Massive protests erupted on the Chandigarh University campus at midnight after leaked videos of around 60 girls bathing at the hostel. Police arrived at the scene and arrested a student who allegedly made these videos and sent them to a boy from Shimla, who shared them on social media. A case under Section 354c of the IPC and IT Act has been filed against the accused girl at Gharuan Police Station. The suspect is a freshman MBA student, police said.
Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains urged protesting students to remain calm. “This is a very sensitive issue that affects the dignity of our sisters and daughters. We all have to be very careful, including the media, it’s also a test for us now as a company, “he tweeted.

Hundreds of students entered the campus on Saturday evening after talks with the authorities had apparently failed. Several social media posts have circulated claiming that university authorities were trying to cover up the incident.

Police have denied any incidents of death, injury or suicide attempt in the wake of the video leak. “This is a video that is made by a student and distributed. In the case, the FIR was registered, and the accused student was arrested. No deaths reported in connection with this incident. According to the medical records, no (suicide) attempts were reported,” said by Mohali SSP Vivek Soni.
An unverified video of the girl she created and leaked videos in which she confessed to her crime also went viral. Some insiders claimed that the defendant asked the girls for money.
