Violation of code of conduct: Second notice issued to Imran Khan
A second notice has been issued to PTI Supremo Imran Khan, asking him to appear in person or through counsel on September 23 to explain his position for violating the by-elections code of conduct in NA-24, Charsadda.
The second notice was issued by DMO, Mohammad Zahir Khan following the failure of Imran Khan to appear before Election Commission of Pakistan.
The DMO has warned the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chief that on his failure to appear on the next date, ex-parte proceedings maybe started against him including referring his case to ECP for disqualification under the relevant provision of law.
In the earlier notice, the DMO stated that it had come into his notice through reports of media and monitoring team that Mr. Khan convened a public gathering in Umerzai, Charssada, in NA-24 with the support of the government functionaries, using state resources including helicopter, to gain unfair advantage and influence the result of elections in his favour, which was clear violation of para 17-B and 30 of the code of conductissued by ECP on August 5 for the conduct of ongoing by-polls.
Para 17-B of the code provides “The public office holders including president, prime minister, chairman/deputy chairman senate, speaker/deputy speaker of an assembly, federal ministers, ministers of state, governors, chief ministers, provincial ministers and advisers to the prime minister and chief ministers, mayor/ chairman/ nazim, their deputies, shall not participate in any manner whatsoever.”
The DMO asked him to appear in person or through counsel on September 20.
In the fresh notice, the DMO asked Imran Khan that he was once again called upon to appear in person or through counsel on September 23 to explain his position for violating the code of conduct.

ECP also warned that it would be compelled to postpone by-polls in KP if the provincial government was not willing to assist the commission in holding the elections.
