Rumors are circulating on social media regarding PLA taking control over China. The People’s Liberation Army (PLA) is the main military force of the People’s Republic of China and the armed wing of the Communist Party of China (CCP). As PLA is made up of five branches of service: Ground Force, Navy, Air Force, Rocket Force, and Strategic Support Force.
It is under the leadership of the Central Military Commission (CMC) with its president as commander in chief. About the rumors of China’s coup taking control, people have been observing that President XiJingping has been out of sight for days and there have been mass flight cancellations which have added more to speculation.
Yet 6 top Xi enemies (former Vice Public Security Minister Sun Lijun + allies) got heavy sentences during Xi’s absence. The likely verdict is that it is a rumor only. Since China has tight controls on information, something like a coup and house arrest of President XiJingping if true would be pretty hard to keep a lid on in neighboring countries, military convoys would be picked up by satellite, unless they have a major plan including invading Taiwan.
