Chinese dream can be achieved by unified nation, says Xi Jinping. Xi Jinping praised the “Chinese dream” in his speech on Sunday, a political goal he has frequently emphasized throughout his term in office.
He addressed Communist Party members in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, “All of us in the party must stay committed to our primary objective of serving the people. The same air that people breathe must be ours.”
According to Xi, the fulfillment of that vision entails China reclaiming its former greatness and its rightful position as a global superpower.
Chinese living abroad: Xi urged “Chinese people of all ethnic groups” to band together as a “collective force working with one heart and one mind to fulfill the Chinese dream,” including “Chinese at home and abroad.”
Regardless of their nationality or the number of generations their family has lived abroad, Communist Party leaders and state-run media frequently refer to foreign nationals or residents of Chinese heritage as “overseas Chinese” in recent years.

Xi promised to “connect abroad Chinese” with their family members in China in a speech from 2017 so that “they can join our efforts to reinvigorate the Chinese country.” And according to state-run news agency Xinhua, he “emphasized uniting the enormous number of overseas Chinese to realize the Chinese dream” in 2020.
As a result, prominent individuals of Chinese heritage, such as actors and directors, have come under intense scrutiny.
