A 2-year-old infant child has been killed in the arms of his mother while a 6-year-old minor girl was seriously injured in the exchange of fire between the police and the wanted to be accused in Krrii Syedan area within the limits of Mureed Akbar Police Station of Tank district, SHO Mureed Akbar Police Station said.
SHO Mureed Akbar Police Station Gul Wali said, early in the morning, the Mureed Akbar police raided the house of the accused namely Sanobar and his companion, wanted in drug dealing and many other cases on information about his presence in a house in village Kirri Syedan of Tank District.
As soon as the police party reached the spot, the accused opened fire on the police, during the retaliatory fire by police, a 2-year-old minor boy was killed in the arms of his mother while a 6-year-old minor girl was seriously injured was present in the nearby house.
A Tank police official said that the victim’s family are neighbors of the accused while the bullet went through the gate of the house of the victims.
According to police, the accused managed to escape from the scene.
The deceased child was identified as 2-year-old Shayan Mehsud son of Muhammad Shoaib Mehsud while the injured minor girl who was the cousin of the deceased was identified as Hanab Bibi, 6.
The police have taken a stand that during the cross-firing, it is not known who shot the minor child, but according to local sources, the police fired directly at the accused which caused the death of a minor child and injury of a minor girl.
