Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, and Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex participate in a roundtable conversation on gender equality at Windsor Castle with The Queens Commonwealth Trust and One Young World. Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, has admitted that she is 43% Nigerian.
She revealed to Nigerian-American actor Ziwe in an exclusive podcast interview that she found through a genealogy search that her ancestry may be traced to Nigeria.
Markle stated that she will “look deeper into all of this” when asked to confirm her clan in Nigeria. You certainly look like a Nigerian, just like my aunt Uzo, Ziwe said, adding that the revelation was “important for our community. So, this is fantastic.
Although Meghan has been vocal about being multiracial, she has just recently begun learning more about her ancestry.
Meghan Markle wrote about her mixed race in a published essay from 2015: “Being biracial draws a hazy line that is equally astounding and fascinating.
While having a foot on both sides of the fence due to my mixed ethnicity may have produced a grey area around my self-identification, I have learned to embrace that. To introduce myself, to describe my background, and to express my satisfaction in being a strong, self-assured woman of mixed ethnicity.
She initially discussed her racial origins in September 2019 after being married to the Duke of Sussex.
