Finance Minister Ishaq Dar assured that the investigation into the release of General Qamar Javed Bajwa’s income tax data will come to a “logical conclusion” and disclosed that those responsible had been identified.

Ishaq Dar heard the intermediate report on Tuesday and reiterated that it was “criminal” to release the army chief’s tax records, according to sources.

He revealed that one leaker is from Lahore and another is from Rawalpindi.

He did, however, add that there is a chance that some of the parties concerned may have the right to see income tax records because assessments happen in a “circle” in Rawalpindi, according to sources.

These individuals have permission to access the data for their evaluation, according to Dar.

According to Geo News, the finance minister believed that if “illegal work” is permitted or if a blind eye is turned toward it, then a person is not performing their duties.

The finance minister stated, “The law does not permit the release of the army chief or anybody else’s income tax returns without a court order.” The “illegal and unwarranted” disclosure of Gen Bajwa’s family members’ tax information was brought to the attention of the finance minister Ishaq Dar a day earlier, according to Geo News.

According to a statement from the Finance Division, “This is a B violation of the entire confidentiality of tax information that the law provides.” Dar had instructed Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Revenue Tariq Mehmood Pasha to personally head the investigation, attach responsibility, and provide a report within 24 hours in light of this major error on the side of previously unidentified bureaucrats.

“I’ve seen the preliminary report. I’m hoping to get the whole story today “Dar spoke to Geo News. He stated that the leak’s perpetrators have been identified by the government, and the matter will be resolved logically.
