Maria B, a Pakistani fashion designer, has always been outspoken about her opinions on the LGBT community and transgender issues. She publicly criticized the practices that conflict with the teachings of her religion. She was the one who spoke out against the transgender bill and raised her voice to raise awareness for the transgender and intersex communities.
This time, she lashed at the TV drama ‘Kuch Ankahi’ for promoting Saim Siddiqui’s film Joyland. The ace designer took her Instagram and posted a screenshot from the drama. In the screenshot, actress Sajal Aly can be seen standing in front of a framed poster of the film Joyland, which is hanging on the wall behind her.
She posted the glimpse and wrote, “We also have dramas promoting Joyland/transgenders subliminally. We are not stupid we get it. Wake up Pakistan and see the new agenda. Rather than trying to save Pakistan, we are selling our religious identity.”
In another story, she penned, “Fight for the rights of our intersex community. They are being abused for 75 years. And now transgender communities are taking over the rights of true intersex people. We will continue to fight against this injustice.”
