Good news for Saudi women as Saudi Arabia has changed its laws to allow women to marry foreigners.
In certain circumstances, a Saudi woman may wed a national of another country.
According to domestic affairs expert Dr. Naif Al-Zafiri, a Saudi woman’s protection is the main goal of the conditions surrounding her marriage to a foreigner.
The requirements are that she be at least 25 years old and, if the suitor was not born in Saudi Arabia, at least 50 years old.
The age difference between the prospective couple should not be more than 15 years. She should be living in Riyadh city or one of its suburbs.
The female guardian should send a request letter to His Royal Highness Prince of the region.
The groom, a candidate for marriage, should be a resident of the country and has a good livelihood so that he can support his wife better.
The legal expert further said that marriage permission i.e. NOC is approached from the concerned body where the application of the aspirant for marriage is approved after examining the prescribed conditions.
