FIA ready to arrest Imran Khan in prohibited funding case. Ousted Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan is expected to be arrested today when he appears in Lahore High Court to seek protective bail.
According to local media reports, Federal Investigators have decided to apprehend the populist leader in a prohibited funding case. According to sources, the PTI chairman would be arrested by FIA officials with the assistance of provincial law enforcement.
A team has also been formed for the arrest, and a summary has been given to the chief of the Federal Investigation Agency for final approval. Following his detention, the former premier will be sent to the country’s federal capital, Islamabad.
It was reported that the police party is waiting for a green signal from the apex investigation agency and will reach Imran Khan’s Lahore residence, where his party members are squatting to block the arrest of their leader.
Last year, FIA started a probe against Imran Khan after the electoral watchdog declared that Imran Khan-led party received illegal funding.
Senior journalist Mansoor Ali Khan also tweeted that FIA is ready to arrest Imran Khan.

Earlier, Former Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan decided to appear before the Lahore High Court today to secure bail in a case pertaining to a protest outside the Election Commission’s office.
The PTI head, who announced the voluntary arrest movement, had previously applied to the court for protective release after his bail request was denied by the anti-terrorism court.
Last week, the LHC bench led by Judge Baqar Najfi dismissed a similar case after the PTI president failed to appear in court despite several chances. The court also took note of the PTI chief’s contradictory signatures on the document, describing the situation as severe.
