PTI worker Ali Bilal died as police crackdown on a rally in Lahore. The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) claimed on Wednesday that a worker of its party had died in clashes with the police in Lahore.
Imran Khan, the leader of the PTI, claimed in a tweet that Ali, a party worker, was killed by the provincial police during clashes close to his Zaman Park home.
“Ali unarmed & our dedicated & passionate PTI worker murdered by Punjab police,” the former prime minister said in a tweet.
“Shameful, this brutality on unarmed PTI workers who were coming to attend election rallies. Pakistan is in the grip of murderous criminals. We will file cases against IG, CCPO & others for murder,” he added.
Earlier, police arrested several PTI workers who turned up on Mall Road to participate in the rally the party claims to have been taking out in ‘favour of the judiciary’.
Following the PTI workers’ encroachment onto Canal Road and the construction of a temporary bridge, police also baton-charged the crowd. Containers were blocking the road from The Mall to Zaman Park.
