To kick off its election campaign, the former ruling party planned a rally from Zaman Park to Data Darbar. However, after police entered Zaman Park to stop the protesters from moving closer to Mall Road, violence broke out.

Both sides posted videos of the clashes on social media, in which police were seen using force against PTI employees and rounding up a number of protesters. In some videos, PTI employees could also be seen using violence, such as vandalizing police cars and assaulting police officers.

The PTI chief shared the news of the death of the party worker on a social media platform. “Ali Bilal unarmed & our dedicated & passionate PTI worker murdered by Punjab police,” Imran wrote on Twitter.

“Shameful, this brutality on unarmed PTI workers who were coming to attend [the] election rally. Pakistan is in the grip of murderous criminals. We will file cases against IG, CCPO & others for murder.”
