Pervez Elahi orders to dissolve assemblies

Fawad Chaudhry, a former minister of information and current leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), declared on Thursday that Chief Minister of Punjab Chaudhry Parvez Elahi had dissolved the provincial legislature and that a summary had been given to Governor Baligh Ur Rehman.Pervez Elahi orders to dissolve assemblies.

Even if the governor does not make a notification, he claimed, the assembly will be declared dissolved in accordance with the law within 48 hours.

Fawad also said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly would be dissolved “day after tomorrow”.

He said that the country was headed towards general elections, adding that the PTI and Imran had “fulfilled their promise”.

The change occurred after Parvez Elahi visited Imran, the PTI chairman and former premier, at his Lahore home in Zaman Park. In the meeting, it was resolved to dissolve the provincial assembly.

The session’s speaker, PA Sibtain Khan, announced that the 186 votes needed to confirm CM Elahi’s majority in the house were cast in favour of the resolution to trust him.

Baligh Ur Rehman, the governor of Punjab, revoked his de-notification of CM Elahi’s order in response to the event and informed the Lahore High Court (LHC), where Elahi’s case challenging his order was being heard by a larger bench, of the development.

The court made the decision not to become involved in the situation, stating that Elahi’s vote of confidence should satisfy the governor.
