CCPO Lahore removed

Fayyaz Ahmad Dev, a Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) in Lahore, was transferred.

He has been told to report to the establishment division immediately until further orders are given.

Fayyaz Ahmad Dev is a Pakistan Police Service grade-21 officer (PSP).

He was the Punjab Government’s Lahore CCPO at the time.

The decision of the Lahore High Court (LHC) to reject the petition for the removal of the Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) from his post due to his status as a grade-21 officer, on the other hand, has been challenged.

In the LHC, an intra-court appeal has been filed to remove IGP Rao Sardar Ali Khan from his position.

On Wednesday, a two-member LHC bench led by Justice Chaudhry Muhammad Iqbal will hear the intra-court appeal (today).

The petitioner will be represented by Chaudhry Muhammad Arshad Advocate.

According to the appeal, IGP Sardar Ali Khan is a grade-21 police officer and appointing a grade-21 officer as IGP is a violation of Article 11 of the Police Order 2002.

“The Police Order procedure was not followed in the appointment of IGP Sardar Ali Khan.” Only a grade-22 police officer can be appointed as IGP under the Police Order 2002.”

The appeal asks the court to overturn Rao Sardar Ali Khan’s appointment as IGP.

The court has also been asked to declare the petition for the removal of the IGP null and void.

Previously, the LHC upheld IGP Rao Sardar Ali Khan’s appointment, rejecting a petition to remove him from office due to his status as a grade-21 officer.

Justice Muzammil Akhtar Shabbir issued an 11-page written verdict upholding IGP Rao Sardar Ali Khan’s appointment.

The verdict stated that “the Police Order does not mention the grade of a police officer for his appointment as IGP.”

“The appointment of a grade-22 officer to the post of IGP is not mentioned in the law,” the statement continued.

“There is no justification for removing the IGP based on his status as a grade-21 police officer.” “On the recommendation of the federal government, one of the three senior police officers may be appointed,” it had decreed.

“Any disagreement between the federal and provincial governments regarding the appointment of the IGP has not been proven,” it had stated.
