What happens in case of a washout on the reserve day of Ind v Pak Asia Cup 2023? Yet another Asia Cup match between India and Pakistan was ruined by rain on Sunday, with the Colombo weather stopping play after 24.1 overs, during which Indian batters had scored 147 runs for the loss of two wickets.
The Asian Cricket Council thankfully kept a reserve day for the match in Colombo. However, the weather at the R Premadasa stadium on Monday isn’t as conducive to cricket as the two teams would have liked.
India got off to a quick start against Pakistan, leaving them to rue some missed opportunities on the pitch.

Skipper Rohit Sharma batted for half a century before being dismissed, and his opening partner Shubman Gill also hit fifty.
Virat Kohli and KL Rahul were hoping to lead India to a big total, but rain forced the match to be postponed until the next day.

According to the Super 4 format, all four qualified teams will play each other once. Pakistan and Sri Lanka currently hold the top two spots, with two points each. Because of a higher Net Run Rate, Babar Azam’s men (+1.051) are ahead of the Lankans (+0.420).
India, on the other hand, has yet to add to their tally, with the Pakistan match being their first in the Super 4s. Bangladesh is ranked fourth with a score of -0.749. They’re already out of contention for the final.
If the India-Pakistan match in the Super 4 stage is called off, points will be shared between the two teams.
In such a scenario, Pakistan’s tally would rise to three points, keeping them atop the points table, while India would fall to third with one point.
A washout could be dangerous for the Indian team if they do not win at least one of their next two matches.
With one win already under their belt, Sri Lanka maintains their lead over India in the points table.
Though India is scheduled to play two more matches in the Super 4s, against Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, there is no guarantee that those matches will not be washed out. As a result, rain-soaked games, such as the one against Pakistan, aren’t very beneficial to the Indian team.
